What: COPA DC will crown the champion of the best teams in DC, MD, and VA through a local youth socccer tournament that we have always been missing! This inaugural citywide event hosted by Open Goal Project brings together DMV-based teams for a high-quality, competitive weekend of soccer. Built around community, accessibility, and local pride, COPA DC creates a unique opportunity for teams across the District to compete against one another and earn recognition as the top club in DC.

Cost: In line with Open Goal Project’s commitment to accessibility and eliminating barriers to participation, there is no formal registration fee for COPA DC. This tournament is supported in part by the DC Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs.

While traditional youth soccer tournaments often cost $750–$1,000 per team, we instead invite teams to make a strongly encouraged donation of $500 at registration to support tournament operations and help sustain our 100% free-to-play programming for DC youth.

Details:COPA DC is designed as a true DMV competition—bringing together teams that represent neighborhoods and communities from across DC and surrounding areas. While teams often compete regionally, opportunities for meaningful, high-quality competition exclusively among DC and DMV clubs are limited.

This tournament creates that platform: a space where local teams can compete, represent their communities, and build connections across wards and counties. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games, with a structured tournament format that advances top teams into bracket finals for each age group.
